Stress and Your Period

Did you know that stress can halt your period? Some studies have shown a direct correlation between stress and amenorrhea. When you are stressed your body produces more cortisol and other stress hormones that interfere with ovulation.

To remedy this, try some traditional stress-relief techniques such as yoga, meditation, acupuncture or talk therapy, which may help. However, if you haven't had your period for more than three months, schedule an appointment to see your gynecologist to rule out thyroid disease, polycystic ovarian syndrome and pituitary abnormalities.
